What the Media Are Missing About Travis Kelce

Not just a shallow bohunk

It seems that everywhere you turn in the media world, you’ll find a fluff piece about the Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce romance. Taylor lifted Brittany Mahomes off the ground after the Chiefs scored a touchdown. Taylor exclaimed “fuck” after her boo took a cheap hit from an opposing player. The two shared a kiss at a bar somewhere. And it goes on and on. But there are two things about Travis that go largely unmentioned.

A few years ago, I read an illustrated story that featured photos of 25 top NFL players with their significant others. Most of the players were Black, but there was only one girlfriend who wasn’t white. That’s right. Every Black player in that story was pictured with his white girlfriend or wife. Only Travis had a Black girlfriend. Interesting. What does that say about the price of gasoline? You be the judge.

Here’s another observation I’ve made about Travis: The person within just might bear some meaning when it comes to who Mr. Kelce develops feelings for.

Kayla Nicole, Kelce’s former Black girlfriend, has had a lot of negative comments about Travis and Taylor’s romance the media have seized upon to sell papers and get clicks.
