Victory At Tastyworks
Finally, the right investment decision
When it comes to gambling (which in my opinion includes the greatest casino of all — Wall Street), I’ve mostly been a loser. Whatever I touch generally turns to shit and I question why I ever made that decision or took the advice of a so-called pro in the first place. But yesterday — and on my own — I made the right call.
Back around New Year’s day, a new brokerage called Tastyworks ran an ad on Yahoo promising a cash bonus to all takers on their offer. I’m no stranger to bank and brokerage bonuses. Around the time the stock market took a nosedive at the beginning of the pandemic, I discovered that wild world.
Exactly how I can’t remember — but I found several websites dedicated to and describing just how somebody with liquidity could cash in by moving money around and in and out of savings, checking, and brokerage accounts. It seemed like a no-brainer way to generate a few bucks risk-free. And it was.
At one point, I was the proud owner of 15 different bank accounts, almost all of which had given me a cash bonus to deposit a certain amount of money for a minimum period of time. I had to keep my eye out for monthly activities I needed to effect to avoid nuisance fees. But it wasn’t all that demanding for an organized guy like myself. I don’t think I paid more than a…
