To be clear, I was never an escort service operator or owner. I ran an advertising agency that placed ads for escort service operators/owners in local publications (New York Magazine, Village Voice et al) and was given a commission by those publications (and later websites) for doing the work of creating ads, graphic design, writing copy and taking care of accounts receivable. I did NOT receive commissions or a piece of any escort service’s profit. They paid their ad fee, and I made the same commission from the media outlet whether the service profited greatly — or not at all — from their advertisement.
