The George Santos American Dream
Is apparently (and allegedly) completely fake!
George Santos, recently elected congressman, was victorious over the Democrat incumbent based in great part on his supposed embodiment of the American Dream. But it seems now, if the New York Times is to be believed, that the Santos dream is the stuff of fantasy rather than reality. According to the Times, he didn’t just fudge a little. Almost his entire bio is allegedly fabricated.
For starters, Santos says he graduated from Baruch College. Oddly, the college has no record of him ever attending. Right there, I have to wonder about this guy. I mean — if you’re going to lie, why not say you went to Harvard? Baruch is about as far from a prestigious institution of learning as you can possibly get. No offense to Baruch graduates.
Santos also claims he attended classes at NYU and worked at Goldman Sachs and Citigroup. But there are no records from any of the three aforementioned to verify his claims. Nor is his animal rescue non-profit registered with the IRS. The Times was able to verify that Santos did work at Harbor City Capital, an outfit declared a Ponzi scheme by the SEC.
