The Downside of George Floyd’s Legacy
Where’s a cop when you need one?
The following is a story that was rejected by two publications that reject almost nothing. I’m not surprised as it contains an unpopular view of the George Floyd murder that points out George himself had a significant hand in his own death.
I ask the reader this: What would have happened if Floyd hadn’t tried to pass a counterfeit $20 bill, had replaced it with a real bill when the cashier pointed out he was trying to pay with a fake twenty, had handed back the cigarettes if he didn’t have any other money, had not stayed at the scene of his crime, or had exited his vehicle when requested by the police who arrived at the scene? Answer: He’d still be alive today!
These are all actions people like you and me would have taken in the same circumstance. Yet, Floyd did not! And that’s why I say he had a hand in his own death.
Just yesterday, I watched a CBS news segment chronicling the nationwide shortage of police officers. Apparently, nobody wants to be a cop anymore and as a result, major metropolitan areas are actually starving for applicants who want the job.
As with any news story, the researchers featured numbers for the reporters to spout while the story addressed why this is happening. I rolled my eyes, shook my head, and…
