Member-only story
The Clap to Dollar Ratio
And other medium analysis
About a month into my big medium push (after mostly abandoning the platform), I’ve come back to report how I fared with the Grand Plan to reemerge triumphant from the bowels of failure. Not that much reemerging as it turns out — at least commensurate with the amount of energy expended.
Briefly and in review, here was the plan: Re-up on membership, do some reading and commenting, and write as I had always been (albeit in a vacuum simply using medium as a writing template because it is easy and attractive).
But when on the first day back as a member, I found a story describing the Boost Program listing 70 publications that do the nominating in that realm, I decided to write for those in my wheelhouse. Maybe that could work!
I am mildly gratified to realize a 500% increase in my February earnings over January’s. But 5 x not a lot is still not very much. And compared to what I made DoorDashing on my pedal bike in New York City for just a little more time and effort, the number is downright depressing and has seriously tempered my enthusiasm for writing here.
To the Boosting results: In the past month, I’ve submitted and had published by Boost Nominators in the neighborhood of 12 stories, all of about equal quality. Two were Boosted, I’m happy to report.
