That's from an android feed. I've experienced the same phenomenon myself. Let's say you wrote about cats and used that word as a keyword/tag. Anybody who has a phone and ever Googled anything about cats has your story in their Google Android news feed. Medium has good domain authority and thus, random articles will end up in Google's phone news feed. I had it happen with a story about Doordash and another about the Rolling Stones. Ya know - five figure views and one figure earnings. It's not a mystery. In theory, you could make a few dollars on referrals. But the percentage of people who read a Medium story from an Android feed who sign up and pay $5 is close to negligible, I can tell you from experience.
