Is this a meta-medium piece? Who cares? Not me. Either way, I’ll be lucky to earn a dollar from what I’m about to say regardless of what keyword I use first. I simply take the next ten minutes to inform those reading who don’t know what Quora is exactly how the site works.

I first found Quora the day I was designated to MCC federal prison, just one week before I was to self-surrender for a year. My pretrial officer and I had discussed several facilities where the feds might forward me — and what to expect when I got there. But somehow, he hadn’t included MCC in the group.

Once having opened the letter that let me know I was going to a place I’d never heard of, I of course Googled “MCC prison,” and was led to Quora.com, where I discovered it had been called “the Guantanamo Bay of New York City.” You can imagine how I felt at that moment. Anyway, this story isn’t about prison, I include the brief allusion because it’s part of the story. Allow me to move on.

Quickly, I realized that Quora is a site that has its participants ask questions while other members answer those questions. And surprisingly (or not), there is a lot of interesting reading along the way. If you have a legitimate question about anything that comes to mind, you’ll probably find…
