My pre-sentencing interviewer (government employee who makes a sentencing recommendation to the judge) told me two things:

1. “There should be a law against what they did to you.”
2. “In 19 years on this job, you have the most interesting life story I’ve ever heard.”

Thanks for agreeing. Unfortunately, the AUSA and judge weren’t that impressed.
