Every so often, I meet somebody who when hearing I’m a faux journalist/writer, wants to read something I’ve written. Generally, I respond to this request by telling them “Google my name, move down a few references, and then click on muckrack.com. There you’ll find links to my major media stuff.”

That’s not to say my best efforts have gone into major publications, but what’s there affords me a cachet born of the reputation big-name websites command.

Muckrack is usually really good at scraping the web and finding stories I’ve written within a few hours of publication. But just recently, they missed an editorial I wrote in the NY Daily News. Not really a big deal. There’s enough there already to impress somebody who’s looking to be impressed.

So today, I took a look at my mucrack profile and what did I see? A medium story! And get this: Above all the links Muckrack provides is a list of all the publications in which the author has been published. And guess which website is listed ahead of the Daily Beast, NY Daily News, Yahoo Entertainment, MSN, and even the Washington Post.

You got it! Medium! Having published a few stories today, I went back to see if maybe there’d been a mistake. No siree! Three medium articles appeared as the top links. And what that…
