I like that "because it was the 90's" hook. It works. By the way...I have a friend who went from being editor at High Times, to Screw and then to (drum roll) Penthouse Letters. He swore that they were all real - to the extent that he received them. Of course, verifying that whoever sent them actually experienced what they described? Hard to say. He admitted to doing some editing, though.

And another by the way: I was editor of Oui Magazine for a while. And I made up all the letters! They were totally fake - except I did draw from my own personal experiences, and then added a heaping helping of hyperbole - in that I've led a very boring life.
