I wasn’t interested in you anyway

I’ve been reading medium posts and watching You Tube videos about body language and signals women give guys which enlightened men should be able to read. But apparently, that thing between their legs is preventing the message from getting through. And it made me think back to my bar-hopping days — and one interaction in which a woman misread my body language and misunderstood my intentions.

I was at a bar in the East Village of New York City when I approached a girl and said something which made her laugh. It wasn’t that I was interested in having sex with her. It was more like “hey! I’m in a bar drinking. Let me find somebody I can relate to.”

The girl and I talked on comfortably, and within a few minutes, her friend (she wasn’t alone) gave her partner a look which said “I see you’re having fun with this guy. I’m gonna step off and give you some room.”

And that’s when the girl I had approached gave her friend the “safe at home” hand signal (like an umpire in a baseball game), indicating “don’t leave. I’m not into this guy.”

Incredible! I’d exhibited no body language that would indicate I had a desire to mount this woman! Yet she misread my intentions and at once…
