It’s Nelly’s turn

As a 70 year-old white guy, it shouldn't come as a shock that I’m not a huge rap music fan. But I am a fan of good music — whatever the genre. And just recently, I’ve discovered the musical stylings of Nelly, a most compelling rapper with a rhythm, look, and staccato style all his own.

After watching two of his videos over and over again, I came to realize something significant. All the hoochies in his videos are light-skinned women of color. Ain’t nobody white. And nobody dark! Dudes? Yes. There is an occasional dark-skinned man — and child as it turns out. But the booty-shakers? No.

For those unfamiliar with black culture, there’s a thing about light-skinned women being superior to their darker-skinned contemporaries. I know. It sounds stupid. But ask anybody in the community — and they’ll tell you “white boy might not know much — but he’s right about that!”

And my man Nelly seems to be perpetuating that ancient ethos in his videos. Cancel the motherfucker! Remove his curation!

Ok! Really. I could give a shit if Nelly likes his pussy mixed-race. It’s not gonna prevent me from sparking up and watching his videos. But ya know what? There’s gonna be some asshole troll who’ll make a big issue of this. And if it weren’t for Nelly’s predilection for boffing underage babes superseding this…
